The story of David and Goliath is one of the Bible’s most well-known battles.
But David faced another kind of giant that is all-too-familiar to us today. At times, he was beset with towering depression, crippling anxiety and gripping fear. Not only do the Scriptures give us a window into these all-too-common torments, but David’s story is a signpost of the hope God offers sufferers. In any given year, one in four of us suffer from the more serious versions of these internal giants (which means we all love and know at least one such person), while all of us at some time or another endure milder versions.
For three weeks, we explore the way forward as a church and as affected people in the face of these agonies of the mind.
